SPARTACUS CHETWYND now MARVIN GAYE CHETWYND is a performance based artist interested in costume and characters, from stories and tales such as paradise lost. Her inventive scenes and live sculptures and performance work is a similarly filed that i would love to work with. I have an idea to create a character out of the octopus but to make it semi human, to just have a similar type representation of an animal, but most importantly to present a mythical supernatural character. the deliberately amateurish quality of her costumes and not amazing designed sets make them even more enjoyable, ads they present a doable quality which i think interacts with the viewer spectacularly. the use of performance and costume in her works is what i hope to achieve in my works, and creating a character taken from shows such as STAR WARS and creating a likeness suit and narrative from this is familiar to the audience, humorous and relaxing for the viewer. overall an enjoyable experience that comes from viewing her exhibition and the 'all in' attitude is inspiring and exciting.
